I post random thoughts that I want to get off my chest for my sanity. Don’t like what I have to say? Move along – silently.
12 weeks
Man, who slashed cats in Ang Mo Kio, jailed 12 weeks, backdated to his remand on 9 June. And they call that justice.
They don’t write 3 months because 12 weeks sounds much longer.
Yes, he has autism spectrum disorder and underlying antisocial personality. Shouldn’t that mean that the sentence should be harsher so that he knows the gravity of his crime. 12 weeks is a slap on the wrist.
At least there should be treatment and rehabilitation to ensure he won’t reoffend, but no mention in the article.
Wth…
Empathy
People always expect others to give empathy, but rarely give empathy to others.
Many people think they have high empathy. They don’t. Sympathy is often mistaken for empathy.
Most people don’t even know that there’re different types of empathy – most commonly known are emotional and cognitive empathy.
Unless we’re psychopaths, everyone has capacity for empathy, just that “most of us don’t respond with empathy immediately, spontaneously, and consistently”.
So if everyone would look at ourselves first before demanding empathy of others, this world would be a kinder, more considerate and less selfish place.
We can always dream.
Impartiality
Some idiot once presumed to tell me how I should do my job.
“HR cannot say its (sic) impartial – saying this is tantamount to not having any position after all the problems caused by the Officer, all the investigations, all the past records.”
Definition of “impartial” from Oxford Languages: “Treating all rivals and disputants equally.”
Replace “HR” with “Judge”: “A judge cannot say its (sic) impartial – saying this is tantamount to not having any position after all the problems caused by the Offender, all the investigations, all the past records.”
Woe betide us the day Singapore’s judges are no longer impartial when presiding over trials and issuing rulings.
Woe is us the HR that is not impartial when mediating conflicts and presiding over disciplinary proceedings.
Idiot.
14 days
An organisation whose leaders profess to care for staff but call its people “dinosaurs” and “lost cause” behind closed doors.
Our words betray us.
Counting down to the day I leave the cesspit.
Tired
I said my energy was flagging. Some idiot retorted that he was tired too.
So tired that you fervently wish you were dead every day?
So tired that you can’t shower, can’t brush your teeth for days?
So tired that you have to leave your job?
Know the tiredness of wanting to die but can’t die because of ties binding you to life?
Idiot.
