People always expect others to give empathy, but rarely give empathy to others.

Many people think they have high empathy. They don’t. Sympathy is often mistaken for empathy.

Most people don’t even know that there’re different types of empathy – most commonly known are emotional and cognitive empathy.

Unless we’re psychopaths, everyone has capacity for empathy, just that “most of us don’t respond with empathy immediately, spontaneously, and consistently”.

So if everyone would look at ourselves first before demanding empathy of others, this world would be a kinder, more considerate and less selfish place.

We can always dream.
